Foundational Level Video Lessons

The Foundational Level videos include the absolute essential lessons required to build a child's literacy skills. This initial level of lessons covers the entire alphabet. In order for a child to read and spell effectively, they must first attain phonemic awareness of every letter in the alphabet. These Foundational Level concepts will then become the building blocks for every concept in literacy they encounter ahead. Mastery of these letters is essential prior to learning any other literacy concept.

Additional lessons in the Foundational Level include a "Card Pack Practice" short video for your child to watch for sound-symbol reinforcement before each in-depth lesson. Also included is a mini-lesson on the proper pencil grip to ensure your child is maintaining a comfortable grip while writing.

Supplemental materials for the Foundational Level are also available and include curated word lists with both basic and more advanced spelling words for each lesson, as well as supporting sentences for reading and dictation practice. These are not necessary for completion of the lessons, but are a bonus if you would like to use them to practice with your child in between lessons. As with any challenge, the more your child practices, the faster they will master the concepts and strengthen their literacy skills.
